Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account details like name, email, profile photo, and password.
• Closet content such as item photos, descriptions, sizes, and tags.
• Borrowing activity including requests, approvals, due dates, and messages.
• Usage data like pages viewed, clicks, and feature interactions.
• Signed-in retailer-link click logs, including item ID, link host/URL, user ID/email, platform, surface, and timestamp.
• Calendar event details (title, date and time, and location) if you choose to connect Google Calendar. Access is read only. See Section 6.
• Device data such as browser type, IP address, and log files.
• Optional info you provide through support or surveys.

2. How we use information

• Provide, maintain, and improve the service.
• Enable closet sharing, borrowing, and returns.
• Protect the community and prevent fraud or abuse.
• Communicate with you about updates and support.
• Send marketing communications and personalize offers.
• Measure performance and analyze trends.
• Understand outbound retailer-link engagement and investigate broken or unsafe links.
• Suggest and plan outfits around events on your calendar, when you choose to connect Google Calendar.

You can opt out of marketing emails at any time. Service messages and transactional notices are still sent when needed.

3. How we share information

• With other members when you share your closet or approve borrowing.
• With service providers who help us run the app, under confidentiality agreements.
• With law enforcement or regulators if required by law.
• In aggregated or de identified form for analytics or marketing insights.

4. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the app is used. We may also use these tools for marketing measurement. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

5. Your choices

• Update your profile and closet content at any time.
• Opt out of marketing messages using the unsubscribe link.
• Request access, deletion, or export of your data by contacting support.

6. Google Calendar sync (optional)

You can choose to connect Apu's Closet to your Google Calendar to help plan outfits around what you actually have going on. Connecting is opt in, off by default, and you can disconnect at any time from your settings or by revoking access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.

• We request read only access to your calendar. We can see event titles, dates and times, and locations so we can surface and suggest outfits for what's on your schedule. We cannot create, edit, delete, or otherwise modify your calendar or events.
• Calendar data is used only to power outfit planning features inside Apu's Closet. We do not use it for advertising, marketing, profiling, or to train generalized AI or machine learning models, and we do not sell it or share it with third parties for their own purposes.
• Calendar data is processed by the same trusted infrastructure providers that run the rest of the app (for hosting, storage, and security), under confidentiality obligations and only to deliver the service to you.
• No one on our team reads your calendar events, except where you explicitly ask us to (for example, while helping with a support issue), where it's necessary to keep the service secure or investigate abuse, or where we're required to by law.
• If you disconnect Google Calendar, we stop syncing new events and delete cached event data we hold for planning, other than minimal records we may need to keep for security or legal reasons.

Apu's Closet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

7. Data retention

We keep information as long as needed to provide the service, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations. Retailer-link click logs are retained as operational analytics records until deleted under an updated retention policy. You can request deletion, but some records may be retained for safety or legal reasons.

8. Security

We take protecting your information seriously. We encrypt data in transit using TLS (HTTPS) and rely on our infrastructure providers to encrypt data at rest. Access to user data inside Apu's Closet is limited to authorized team members on a need-to-know basis, gated by authentication and role-based permissions, and activity is logged for review.

Google account credentials are handled entirely through Google's OAuth flow. We never see or store your Google password. Access tokens are stored encrypted and used only to fulfill the features you've turned on.

No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us right away.

9. Children's privacy

The service is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us.
